The developer version of Windows 8 is already available online for many weeks now. If you want to try it out, then this is the right time to get your hands on the developer preview version.
The developer version consists of both 64 and 32bit versions. Some kinks are still being worked by the Microsoft engineers but as far as I’ve used windows 8, it seems pretty good for a developer build. For now, we’d recommend that you install it on an VM instead of running your existing OS
