Apple also introduced the Safari Reader, an option to remove a webpage from any external content, to make it more readable. A button labeled “Reader” is available on the right side of the address bar. This new “reader” feature can be used to extract the contents of the article and automatically hide the contextual ads and related links. The font, spacing and layouts are optimized to improve the reading on screen.
Safari has a dozen new HTML5 features, including geo-location API, including drag and drop native EventSource, WebSocket, Ruby and AJAX History.
The browser now includes Bing as a search engine along with Yahoo and Google. The browser is available for Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard and after and for Windows (XP SP2, Vista and Windows 7).
